Simple to pick up, deep enough to keep playing. The design patterns that turn a quick-play hook into a game people come back to.

Hyper-casual games are brilliant at acquisition and weak at retention. Hybrid-casual keeps the one-tap hook but adds the progression and economy that give players a reason to return.

Keep the core loop tiny

The first session should still feel like hyper-casual: no tutorial walls, playable within seconds. Depth arrives gradually through meta systems, not through a more complicated core.

  • Collection and upgrade systems that give each run a purpose
  • Light social features such as leaderboards and clubs
  • Rewarded ads and IAP designed together, not bolted on
  • Live events that refresh the game without new code

Instrument from the first prototype

Day-1 and day-7 retention tell you whether the meta is working long before revenue does. We add analytics to prototypes so design decisions are based on player behaviour rather than opinion.
